Free tours are arranged around Sofia, for example, Free Sofia Tour. It’s a walking tour revealing more than 30 attractions and you will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide. There are also some other interesting tours like: Sofia Green Tour – by bikes, Balkan Bites Free Food Tour – a culinary journey and others. Moreover you can see around for free both the capital and Plovdiv within the Free Plovdiv Tour.

Be very careful when exchanging currency. Exchange offices frequently offer awesome rates and low commission, around 1% of the sum. An inscription on the exchange office will proudly announce about it. But in fact, there is very often another small inscription typed in tiny and less readable letters. And it says that such rate and commission are valid only for specific amounts, usually very high ones. For small amounts another rate and commission of 15%, and sometimes 20%, are applied. Try to find an exchange office with “no commission” inscription. But even in this case, it’s worth enquiring about a sum which is exchanged without commission.

Sun loungers and shades may cost up to $10. You can save by choosing a beach next to three stars hotels or water sports gear rentals. Many beaches also offer systems of sun loungers booking and discounts. For example, if you book a place for 7 days, you will get one day for free. After paying your booking, you will receive a sort of a ticket with a sunshade number, line, booking date and which day is free.

The easiest way to travel across Bulgaria is by trains. You can get from one end of the country to the other for only $10. And renting a car is not the best option as your road will be often blocked by livestock, animal-drawn transports and road works without signs, especially in the inland towns. And your journey might be much longer.

When picking a hotel, first of all, pay attention to its construction and renovation year. You are lee likely to be happy with the service of the buildings which have been renewed before the year 2000. However, their prices will be very affordable.
