US dollars are the easiest currency to exchange. But the only city where you will be able to withdraw them is Tashkent. There are almost no ATMs in Samarkand and Bukhara.

It is highly recommended to keep the declaration form which you have indicated the amount of foreign cash in. You cannot export more cash than you have declared. The same is true for electronics and jewels.

You need to be registered during 3 days after the arrival date. Hotels usually assist their guests. If you fail to do so, you will be charged a fine. One of the ways (not the most convenient one) is to leave the country every three days. You can cross the border quickly in Andijan, Kokand, Denov and Tashkent. Thus you won’t need to be registered. Nevertheless, it would be much easier to ask hotel administration for help.

If you don’t want to spend money on plane tickets, there is the next way. Buy ticket for the train Moscow – Dushanbe, Moscow – Kuliab or Saratov – Khujand. In Uzbekistan these trains halt only at technical stop that’s why it’s impossible to tickets to Uzbekistan stations. You can, however, buy tickets to Tadjikistan and get off earlier. You will evidently pay more but it would still be cheaper than flying.
