Hi! Gagarin is the nice small Russian city, the city's area is only 14.46km². The city is located on the river Gzhatsk,180 km south-west of Moscow and 239 km north-east of Smolensk. Gzhatsk is the old name of the city and was renamed Gagarin in honor Yuri Gagarin, who was born on 1934 in the village of Klushino in the Gzhatsk region. Yuri Gagarin-April 12, 1961, was the first person in the world history to fly to the outer space and was a Hero of the Soviet Union, a chevalier of the highest insignia of a number of states and in 1968 died in avia accident in the 34 years old. Especially in this city, tourists shouldn't go, but if you go on the road from Minsk to Moscow, it will be a pleasant place for rest and stop. Sightseeing: The Annunciation Cathedral (1897-1900);Church of the Sorrowful Mother of God (Mary of Egypt) (1753);Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God (1734-1737);Ascension Church (1791), United Memorial Museum of Yuri Gagarin. And on the border of the Smolensk region and Moscow on the road, you can still stop at the source of the Moskva River, it's 3 km from railway station Drovnino. There is nice park for children and for small picnic. I traveled by car: Minsk-Smolensk-Gagarin-Moscow-St.Petersburg. It was long nice road))
